At Gardens America, we believe that active participation in industry associations strengthens not only our company but the floral community as a whole. Organizations such as the American Floral Endowment (AFE) and the Illinois State Florists’ Association (ISFA) play a vital role in shaping the future of floriculture through research, education, advocacy, and innovation.

This year, we are proud to celebrate two leadership appointments that reflect our team’s dedication to advancing the floral industry.

Kristin Gilliland Joins the American Floral Endowment Board of Trustees

Congratulations to our President, Kristin Gilliland, on being named to the American Floral Endowment’s (AFE) Board of Trustees.

With more than three decades of experience and a lifelong passion for floriculture, Kristin brings invaluable insight to AFE’s Public Relations/Development and Floral Marketing Fund Committees. Her appointment underscores her ongoing commitment to supporting research, scholarships, and marketing initiatives that strengthen and sustain the floral industry.

Kristin’s involvement reflects Gardens America’s mission to champion the beauty and benefits of flowers while connecting growers, wholesalers, and retailers through meaningful relationships and forward-thinking solutions.

Renee Hesselbach Elected to the Illinois State Florists’ Association Board of Directors

We are also proud to share that Renee Hesselbach, a valued member of our sales team, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Illinois State Florists’ Association (ISFA).

In this role, Renee will help guide ISFA’s strategic direction, support professional education and development for florists and suppliers, and represent the floral community across Illinois. Through her leadership, she will contribute to expanding opportunities for growth, collaboration, and advocacy that ensure the continued success of floral professionals throughout the state.

Why Industry Associations Matter

Involvement in associations like AFE and ISFA benefits the floral industry, and every professional within it, in numerous ways:

  • Education and Growth: These organizations provide critical training, certification programs, and professional development resources that help florists and suppliers thrive.
  • Research and Innovation: AFE funds research that drives sustainability, flower care, and marketing insights across the floral supply chain.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Both national and state-level associations bring together professionals who share ideas, foster creativity, and support one another’s success.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Associations give the floral industry a unified voice, ensuring its continued growth and visibility in the broader marketplace.

Blooming Together for a Stronger Future

At Gardens America, we are honored to see Kristin Gilliland and Renee Hesselbach take on leadership roles that will help shape the future of floriculture. Their dedication exemplifies what it means to nurture connections, inspire innovation, and share the joy of flowers with the world.
